How Do We Help ?

Welcome To J&K Yateem Trust

The Jammu & Kashmir Yateem Trust is having the distinction of being the first and the oldest Charitable organization of J & K State, established as early as in 1972 by a Philanthropist, educationist and a very good administrator, Late Abdul Khaliq Tak, popularly known as TAK ZAINAGIRI. The Trust with its strong network of 75 units is spread all over the state of Jammu & Kashmir. People are associated with the Trust through its unique and distinctive decentralized structure/system. The Trust is run by members of BOT's headed by its patron and of course thousands of volunteers. These members/people do not seek or demand any compensation or remuneration. The only motive of these people is to please their Master (Lord) and make this part of the world a better place to live. The Trust has also ensures that the resources (Zakat & Donations) are spent in the same area wherefrom they are collected. The Trust got registered in 1973 under the Registrar Societies Act, under No. 186/S/73. ...

Chairman's Message

The J & K Yateem Trust completed 48th year of its establishment on 25th July 2020. Its 47th year got completed on the same date in 2019. It has been a practice all along with us that we used to hold Annual Day on 25th July or any convenient day after it because 25th July has a significance in the history of J & K Yateem Trust as the Trust was established on 25th July 1972 by Late A. K. Tak Zainagiri (May God be pleased with him) and the Trust got registered exactly one year, after on 25th July 1973. Interestingly, surprisingly and sadly it was the same day i.e. intervening night of 24th / 25th July 1989 that the founder Patron Tak Zainagiri was called back to heavens.
Now, last year 2019, we could not hold 47th Annual Day on 25th July or thereafter due to tremendous unfavorable and confusing situation that preceded the Govt. of India decision of abrogation of article 370 on 5th August 2019 and then complete lockdown, curfew, communication blockade and the most stringent restrictions that followed the decision. It was for the first time that we could not hold the Annual Day.
As if what J & K witnessed since 5th August 2019, was not enough, in March 2020 when the situation in the J & K had begun to improve, the Pandemic of covid-19 engulfed the whole globe. The world tasted by experiencing what lockdown means in the lives of humans. J & K, too, got its share of global disaster and truly, due share! All social, religious, cultural, commercial, individual and collective activities have come to a complete and total grinding halt since March 2020. A little respite was seen in June 2020 but it resulted in huge number of positive cases getting detected and when these lines are being drafted, we don't know how long the disaster is going to remain with us. God, save us all!! As a result of emergency situation arising as a result of August 5th 2020 decision and now Pandemic the whole economy of J & K like elsewhere has shattered. Shops and business establishments closed, movements restricted immensely and a catastrophic situation unfolding all over. Though the Governments are trying to lessen the impact of disaster but then one can easily understand the limitations.
In these circumstances how could we expect that people will donate to us in order to serve the deserving. Our fund-raising is mainly in fasting month of Ramadan. People donate their Zakat during this month and this is the only source of income for J & K Yateem Trust. Unfortunately this year 2020, this month fell during April-May which was peak time of covid-19 restrictions. Accordingly our resources got a severe setback. These resources had begun showing sharp decline since August 2019 and now these are at their lowest. But our society was still looking towards us in these times of grief and distress to stretch helping hand to the effectees. Thank God, we did not show our back and showed our presence in every nook and corner of J & K with whatever little and possible help for the deserving. Since J & K Yateem Trust is the only member of the standing committee of Civil Society organizations in NITI Ayoug from J & K, therefore MHA kept all along conveying us directions how to mitigate the sufferings of the people and we responded with equal sincerity.
The J & K Yateem Trust at its central office, divisional office, sub-office and all its 80 units distributed food kits, masks and other essentialities to effectees in the length and breadth of J & K during lockdown. We established 24 x 7 centres at our offices so that the deserving people do not face problems. We spent millions of rupees on these activities and kept all other normal schemes like dietary, medical, wedding assistances running. We have, however, limitations. We don't get any Govt. or Foreign funding at all. The local donations are too little and even those getting decreased now due to turbulent situations. Under these circumstances, we request our donors to please come forward and assist us in a big way so that our mission of serving the deserving gets accomplished.
We assure them that every penny of their money which they pay us, will be spent exclusively on the welfare of our deserving people irrespective of any discrimination, whatsoever, which has all along been our motto, motive and belief. In JKYT we don't render our services for earning salaries or benefits at all. We do this job only to help our less fortunate fellow beings. In all our 48 years of selfless service, we have ensured that we remain non-political, non-communal, non-governmental, democratic and transparent.
This year 2020 also like previous year, we are not able to celebrate our Annual Day, therefore we are bringing out this annual report for information of our esteemed donors, well-wishers, sympathizers and general public here and elsewhere. In the following pages we will give a brief of our activities performed by us during 2019-2020. I wish and pray that we are all saved from the covid19 and we see normalcy with dignity again. .

ATTENTION…All friends at J & K Yateem Trust

Dear Friends

Assalam u Alaikum

The current financial year 2018-19 is shortly coming to an end i.e on 31.03.2019.

As you know, under law we are obliged to get our accounts audited as soon as possible, preferably soon after conclusion of financial year.

We are also obliged to prepare new budget for next financial year 2019-2020 and also to review previous income expenditure (2018-19) in the Annual Budget meeting which will hopefully be held in April 2019.

In the previous budget meeting several members had vehemently emphasized to prepare a comprehensive budget for whole organization, central office as well as units and all orphanages of the Trust so that actual financial strength of the Trust is assessed and depicted. This suggestion is a healthy one and worth to be implemented.

In order to achieve this goal, all our units, orphanages, craft centers including all offices shall have to complete their accounts work for the year 2018-19 on 31.03.2019 itself, prepare income expenditure statements strictly in accordance with the proforma, annexed herewith and send the same duly completed in all respected to the central office latest by 10.04.2019 without fail so that a date for Annual Budget Meeting is fixed on the quickest date. The proforma is being uploaded on the website of the Trust (www.jkyateemtrust.org) and also on Watsap so that all start work. Please note any concerned official member not submitting the statement in time shall fail to find a place in the Annual Report and will not be entitled to central assistance like wedding kits, etc.

Hope our esteemed members will show responsive attitude.

The coordinators of the districts please ensure that all members adhere to these instructions.
